With Payconiq’s early choice for a cloud-based solution has paid off: thanks to the efficient scalability, their technology is now the engine room of all iDeal services. The launch of iDeal 2.0 later this year is the next step.
Payconiq, especially ubiquitous in Belgium and Luxembourg thanks to its QR payment app, changed its strategy radically in 2020. Dutch B2C activities discontinued prioritising the processing of all payments for iDeal and developing iDeal 2.0. This move ‘from front-end to back-end’ resulted in quite a bit of spin-off in Europe: they received many requests to help payment platforms accelerate their portfolio. Guido Vermeent, CEO of Payconiq International: “Banks are interested in growing their business through scalable platforms and innovation. Because we have gained B2C experience with our own payment solution for several years, we are in a good position to advise our customers in that B2C market. And indeed, those customers used to be our competitors, but that no longer matters.”
Payconiq has developed a toolbox which can support customers in various disciplines. They help build payment apps, develop value-added services, take care of processing, such as for iDeal, and still have their own, very successful, QR payment solution. Customers can choose which services they use. Vermeent: “We were always a relatively small player, flexible and with great innovative power, but now we process billions of payments for iDeal – and that number is only going to increase. Paying with your mobile has already become normal in the supermarket and the catering industry. With iDeal 2.0 – about which we cannot reveal anything yet – it will all become even easier. That will give the sector another boost.”
